Wyoming will no longer require permit to carry a weapon concealed

That's right folks, Wyoming no longer requires a permit to carry a concealed weapon.  This is for law abiding citizens of Wyoming who otherwise meet the former requirements for a permit.  Also, proficiency instruction is no longer required either.  Hurray for Wyoming.  Texas needs this too.  The special session ended yesterday, June 30.  Now we need to start talking to our state legislatures so during the next legislative session, in 2013, we can get this passed for Texas.  I think we need to work on getting rid of Joe Straus as House Speaker too.  He is just a RINO and really doesn't care about the rights of Texans.  Here's the link to the article if you missed it above: http://www.laramieboomerang.com/articles/2011/06/17/news/doc4dfad54787b5b842469161.txt

Suzanna Gratia-Hupp: What the Second Amendment is REALLY For

Folks, the video below is from the 1990's and is the reason that Texas now has Concealed Carry with a permit.  It is also the reason a permit should not be needed for law abiding Texans.  Please view the video and pass on this link.  It is very powerful!

State Senator Dan Patrick thinks certain people should be able to carry in currently restricted areas

The headline, "Bill would let lawmakers carry guns everywhere" was in the Austin Statesman online version of its newspaper, statesman.com, on April 12 and 13.  My state senator, Dan Patrick, thinks this is a good idea because of the high profile that lawmakers carry.  Well, this is reasonable reasoning.  However, isn't it also reasonable reasoning to assume, that sense the thugs and thieves carry weapons without regard to the law, law abiding Texans without a felony conviction should be able to carry a weapon just because they don't want to be a victim of someone's unlawfulness!  And without having to go through the process of applying for a concealed handgun license!  Self defense is an unalienable right and no license should be required to carry a personal concealed weapon!  Write you State Representative, State Senator, the Governor and Lt. Governor today!  The link to their contact information is in the upper right of this blog.

Regarding comments about too late for new bills

Yes, I do realize the time has passed to file new bills.  However, irritating lawmakers is exactly what needs to be done.  I also believe there could be a special session.  The Constitution Carry For Texas issue could possibly be added to the agenda then.  So keep those emails, faxes, phone calls and letters going to them.  Remind them that this is a vital issue for us as law abiding Texans and a right we want to reclaim.

Another Letter to Senator Patrick and Representative Murphy

On March 5, 2011 I sent this email to my state Senator Dan Patrick and my state Representative Jim Murphy:
Dear Senator Patrick and Representative Murphy,

I am writing to you today to encourage both of you to bring forth legislation to allow law abiding Texans, who otherwise legally qualify for the right to own a handgun, to carry a weapon without a permit.  Wyoming's governor just signed into law the right for Wyoming's citizens to do just that making it the fourth state to do so, behind Vermont, Alaska and Arizona.  Legislatures in Colorado, Minnesota, Montana, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Utah and Idaho are seeking to do this also and so should Texas.

I believe the time is right for this as the economic picture is not encouraging.  Soon law enforcement entities will be very much more under staffed and over worked.  These entities have always been one of reaction rather than preventative.  The bad guys have weapons, illegally, whereas citizens are required to follow certain rules or become criminals themselves.  The time is now for this change.  If a constitutional amendment is required, then please get this item on the ballot for this November!

I have included a newspaper article from the Washington Examiner below detailing the recent legislative change in Wyoming.

Thank you for your consideration.
(note: the Examiner has removed the article from their archive so the link above no longer works.  I found this link though that does have an articlehttp://newswithviews.com/Pratt/larry117.htm)

What is needed is more of you to call, write, email and fax your Texas State Representative, Senator, Governor Perry and Lt. Governor Dewhurst regarding the need for Constitutional Carry in Texas.  The links for their contact information are to the upper right of this post.

Also, a daily blog I read, Rural Revolution written by an Idaho farm wife, posted a link to this blog today.  Check it out!  Notice in the blog roll list to the right I have the Rural Revolution Blog listed also.  I find her charming and down to earth in her assessments.  I hope you will too!

How a CCW/CHL permit can be bad for you

Hey Folks, did you know the act of acquiring a concealed carry permit can land you on the domestic terrorist watch list?  Well, it can and here's how: http://www.rural-revolution.com/2011/04/greetings-from-your-friendly.html.

I propose that each and every law abiding Texan with no felony background be able to carry a concealed weapon without a permit.  This is known as Constitutional Carry.  If you can legally own a handgun, then you shouldn't need a permit.  You're not a criminal.  The 2nd amendment to our US Constitution guarantees our right to do so.  Visit the initial posting of the blog for additional information.

My Comment on the Dallas News today

This morning, besides my regular postings in the Houston Chronicle and Channel 13 (ABC13), I also posted to this article in the Dallas News website regarding this article:

Police say 2 men arrested in home invasion could be linked to southwest Dallas robberies

Below is my comment:
Fellow Texans. These kinds of crimes are happening more and more around the state. It's time for law abiding Texans with no criminal history to be able to carry a concealed weapon without a permit. Help promote this, visit this blog: [this blog]

Posted to the Houston Chronicle Comments

Today, I posted several comments to the article "Bank in grocery store robbed in southwest Houston."  I feel sure that many Texans/Houstonians were not at all happy about being in the store when this crime occurred.  This is one of the reasons law abiding Texans with no felony crime convictions should be able to carry a firearm concealed on their person without a permit.  Write your Texas reps today!

Beginning the promotional aspect

Today, I emailed four blog owners a notice of this new blog.  I regularly read each of these blogs and post occasional comments to each.  I used the local newspaper online form to add this blog to their promotional links to other search engines.  I also added (see top right) links to Texas Government entities.  In the comments on my local newspaper, On each crime reported, I posted a short snippet and a link to this blog.

To any blog owners who would like to help promote this blog and this idea, please post a comment.

Sample letter you may use

Below is a sample of the letter that I faxed and emailed this afternoon to the Lt. Governor, State Senator Dan Patrick and State Representative Jim Murphy.  You are welcome to use it or create your own.  Please be respectful and try to keep the message short.

SAMPLE LETTER FOLLOWS BELOW:

Dear Lt. Governor Dewhurst [or] Senator [whomever yours is] [or] Representative [whomever yours is],

Due to recent US Supreme Court decisions regarding the 2nd amendment to the US Constitution, I would like for you to help get the right for Texas citizens, who would otherwise legally qualify, to be able to carry a concealed firearm without a permit.  If this requires a Texas Constitutional amendment, then please ask the legislature to get this done so it can be placed on the ballet for this fall's election in November 2011.

Thank you [or] A Constituent,
[you should place your name,
mailing address,
and telephone number here,
plus your email address]

Texas Constitutional Carry - the beginning

This blog is being written to facilitate the effort for Texas to become one of the few (so far) states in the United States to allow the concealed carry of firearms without a permit, otherwise known as, Constitutional Carry.  The Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states:

As passed by the Congress:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
As ratified by the States:
A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
Currently, Texas has laws allowing a Texas citizen to obtain a permit, after meeting certain qualifications, to carry a concealed firearm under most conditions within Texas.  One of the qualifications is that the applicant have no felony background.  In order for a person in Texas to purchase a firearm, he/she must meet the same requirement, usually through a Federal instant check.

Stay tuned as I will post a sample letter that you can use to email, fax, or postal mail and also use as talking points if you should call your representative, senator and governor or lt. governor.
